New Haven, Conn. (WTNH) - Fifty-five students in New Haven were rewarded today for their perfect attendance and exceptional school work with brand new bicycles and helmets.

The program, Bikes for Kids, has awarded over 2,000 bicycles to New Haven students since 1989.

"It's so important to reward our students and this just created lots of excitement during the testing period and kids were very motivated to come to school every day," said Karen Lott, Principal, Katherine Brennan School.

Bikes for Kids is funded by grant money from the state of Connecticut.
