OXFORD, Conn. (WTNH) -- A 56-year-old man died in a car accident in Oxford on Monday night.
Gerald Bourgoin of 1149 Hamilton Ave in Waterbury was taken to Waterbury Hospital and pronounced dead.
Gerald Bourgoin was driving west on Hawley Rd and stopped at the stop sign at Hawley Road and Rt. 67. Bourgoin pulled out onto Rt. 67 into the north bound lane when the car was hit on the driver's side door and front quarter panel by a car driven by Donald Ansaldo of Milford.
Bourgoin's car spun 180 degrees and came to a final rest facing east down a slight embankment.
Ansaldo's car came to a final rest facing north in the southbound lane.
Ansaldo applied the brakes and attempted to take evasive action before the other car was hit, police said.
Bourgoin had to be extricated from the car. His passenger, Sheila Hernandez, of Waterbury was also transported to Waterbury Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
