New Haven, Conn. (WTNH) - The city of New Haven is pushing to become "Google" Haven.
There are 1,100 cities around the world vying for for the high-speed internet service. The service would be about 100-times faster than anything available now.
The ramifications of this would be huge for businesses and schools. "When a player like Google comes into a market like ours, we're looking at higher quality, lower prices and applications to New Haven residents, New Haven professionals that would otherwise not be available to the rest of the world," said Andre Yap the CFO of Ripple 100.
The city is now trying to differentiate itself from the other cities vying for the fiber. Launched on Friday, is Google Haven 100.
100 local businesses will provide 100 gifts, each worth $100 or more, all in the spirit of 100 times faster internet.
