MILFORD, Conn. (WTNH) -- Animal rights activists are protesting the Cole Brothers Circus in Milford, saying that the animals are not being properly taken care of.

About a dozen PETA supporters across the street from the circus held up protest signs urging people not to attend the shows.

"While you're watching these animals, think about what their lives are like," says Deborah Robinson, an animal rights activitist, "and think about whether it's really worth putting intelligent, sentient creatures through that kind of life just so you can have a couple minutes of entertainment."

There has been no comment from the circus or the mall.

The show runs through Father's Day.
