North Haven, Conn. (WTNH) - One of the biggest antique and vintage car shows in Connecticut was held Sunday. The event is put on every year by local car clubs and the North Haven Police Department.
With over 400 vehicles expected, gear heads united and and rejoiced and turned the North Haven High School parking lot into one giant time warp.
"America will never see this again."
What Tony means is the classics don't come around anymore. Cars of the fifties andĀ sixties, and even well before, were the definition of our country.
Tony DeLucia of Wallingford showed off his '67 GTO. "You walk around here and look at cars. You see cars that friends of yours owned. It brings back memories of Jimmy's parking lot."
The chrome, the sun drenched sparkle of the perfect paint job and under the hood, the power of youth -- it's all nearly impossible to copy in today's world.
Preservation is a huge part of keeping vintage vehicles in great shape. It's a labor of love with a strict, disciplined pattern.
News 8's Marc Robbins: "How often do you take it out?"
"Three times a week just for shows."
"Three times a week, what months of the year?"
"Maybe April through September."
Trophies and dash plaques were awarded in these divisions: antique custom, stock, hot rod, muscle, street rod, classics, trucks, DARE cars and vintage police cruisers.
