Bear, charged a house, loose in Madison

MADISON, Conn. (WTNH) -- A black bear has been spotted in Madison, leaving some residents feeling uneasy.

A DEEP spokesperson says that reports of the bear began coming in about a week ago.

One resident recently posted a video of the bear apparently charging at a house. The spokesperson said that black bears are known to charge when they feel threatened.

DEEP has set up a "culvert" tube-type trap in an effort to catch the bear. The trap will not hurt the animal, as a gate simply closes once the bear enters the tube.

The trap is set up at Suffolk Street. If anyone witnesses the bear in the trap, they are asked to notify DEEP.

There have been no injuries reported involving the bear.
