Box shuts down New Haven street

NEW HAVEN, Conn. (WTNH) -- The discovery of a suspicious package closed down Congress Avenue in New Haven for over an hour.

The package, which turned out to be a box filled with packing material, was reported around noon Friday.

While the bomb squad was on the scene, Congress was closed between College Street and Howard Avenue.

The road was reopened around 1:30 p.m.
