NEW HAVEN, Conn. (WTNH) -- News 8 has learned a tennis coach is off the courts in New Haven, as his behavior is being called into question.

News 8 has learned a tennis instructor with the New Haven Youth Tennis & Education, a partner of the New Haven Open, may have been doing more than helping kids with their serves and backhands at a summer camp. A source tells News 8 the coach inappropriately touched kids getting him suspended. We've also learned the non-profit called in DCF to investigate.

"It's very disturbing, very disturbing particularly now that things are being revealed that used to take place in the past," said parent Joseph Matovu, "and people never knew what they're kids are going through."

The source who contacted News 8 through Report It tells us it was kids who were coaches at the camp who reported the misconduct.

After digging deeper we found out that same coach teaches with New Haven's summer tennis programs so we contacted the city. This is what we were told: The City has no knowledge of the details of the allegations reported by the Tennis Association to DCF, but upon learning of the investigation the City suspended the instructor from all City programs. It also contacted police which are now investigating.

"When I hear such a thing I feel sorry for those parents where something like that has happened," Matovu said, "and I pray my children don't fall into that same situation."

At this point there have been no allegations of misconduct involving the coach in the city's summer program.
