NEW HAVEN, Conn. (AP) — The U.S. Coast Guard says a man was rescued from his boat off East Haven after he reported suffering chest pains.

The 48-year-old man was about 1,500 yards from Lighthouse Point Park when he issued the distress call at about 6:10 p.m. Thursday.

The guard said Friday that the man was transferred to a rescue boat and a local salvage operator towed the man's 24-foot boat to safety.

A Coast Guard spokesman said the man was receiving treatment at a hospital in New Haven.
