EAST HAVEN, Conn. (WTNH) -- A missing swimmer who went under the water at East Haven's town beach Wednesday night has been found alive.
The incident occurred at East Haven's town beach, located on Cosey Beach Rd., between 7 and 7:30 p.m.
The 911 call was received around 8:30 p.m.
The East Haven Fire Department, East Haven Police Department, Coast Guard, and other emergency personnel responded to the scene.
According to the fire department, the 27-year-old woman was swimming in the Long Island Sound with her husband when she disappeared under the water and did not come back up.
The woman's husband was on shore, while she went out swimming.
She was last seen in the water approximately 100 yards from shore, before going out of sight.
Officials said the woman was wearing blue jeans and a light blue short-sleeved top.
"One of my boats has retrieved the swimmer from the water," said Jackson, "she appears to be in good condition. We're bringing back into the dock now and we're gonna be meeting her over there with a medical crew and stuff to check her out."
"Some of the guys were saying that they thought because it was dead low tide that she might be hanging onto a rock, do we know if that's what happened," asked News 8's Jamie Muro.
"There are a lot of places out there where she could do something like that to keep herself up, because this has been a very extended period of time," said Jackson. "We got a good outcome though. This is really good."
One source tells News 8 the woman was found hanging onto a rock in the water.
