New Haven, Conn. (WTNH) - A New Haven couple is enjoying a Valentine's day they will never forget as they tied the knot in front of family and friends at a downtown jewelry store.
In front of family and friends inside, and curious passersby outside, lovers Simone and Brittany Mason traded their I-do's at the Arpaia Lang jewelry shop .
"Therefore by the law of Connecticut, I do pronounce you partners in life," the officiant said.
For Simone, it's a happiness that was almost impossible to put into words.
"Our courtship just came together," she said. "It's like we we're soul mates, there's no other way for me to put it."
The happy couple originally planned to tie the knot at City Hall, but then fate in the form of jeweler Robert Lang intervened.
He made them custom rings and then offered a novel ideal for their special day.
"They were gonna get married at the Town Hall and they loved the heart we put in the window. I said why don't you get married under the heart that you love so well," Lang said.
"Valentine's Day is the perfect for lovers and we know diamonds are a girl's best friend," Simone said.
All of this is just the latest chapter in this one-of-a kind love story.
The pair meet about three years ago in a local Burger King and they knew right away this was something very special.
Simone was the store's manager and Brittany had stopped by in for a meal, but left with much more.
"That was the best trip to burger king you ever had right?"
"Best, didn't need the French fries after that," Brittany joked. "Definitely didn't need no French fries. It was wonderful, beautiful. I'm in love, I love her."
So this love story that began with burgers and fries continues with champagne, cookies, wedding cake and the promise of a lifetime of happiness together.
"Cheers to my new wife," they said.
