New Haven, Conn. (WTNH) - It's not something you see every day in New Haven -- a coyote pup on a roof!

People living along Congress Avenue spotted the coyote and called News 8.

"Whoa, how'd he get up there, you know? I said, well, let me call the news guys," said Danny Lowery of New Haven.

News 8 put up the transmitter mast on the live truck to get a look at the little guy. The young, thin coyote popped out of a hole in the roof of an old warehouse and walked along the rooftops between Congress and Davenport Avenues. Then he climbed down and ran through the parking lot of a plumbing supply shop and across the road into a cemetery. None of this is new to the guys at the plumbing supply shop.

"About a month ago. He ran right through the back parking lot into the shed. I didn't know if it was a dog or anything. He just keeps coming back day by day, passing by, saying hello," said Joel Damica, Quality Plumbing Supply.

Neighbors called the police, too. It's the second time they've been out to try to track him down, but the coyote is just too wily so far. He looks hungry and maybe a little confused, but does not appear to be dangerous, so for the moment, the neighborhood gets an unexpected wildlife show. Very unexpected.

"Did you ever think you'd see a coyote out your living room window?" News 8 Kent Pierce asked.
"No, no no. Not like that, Uh-uh," Lowery said.

Because the little guy spends so much time in this abandoned warehouse, police are going to get animal control to set a trap. I suggested something with a giant slingshot and rocket roller skates, but they're going with a cage so they can transport him to the woods somewhere where he'll be safe.
