(WTNH) - Connecticut Limo has lost it's permit allowing pickups at some New York and New Jersey locations.
According to a spokesperson for the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, Connecticut Limo has lost it's permit to pick up passengers at preferred locations at the three New York metro area airports JFK, LaGuardia and Newark.
The Port Authority said Connecticut Limo's permit was pulled because the transit company owes it $92,000 which has gone unpaid despite four or five months of notices and warnings.
The decision means Connecticut Limo can still pick up and drop off passengers at the airports, but only in public areas, and not in the so-called preferred locations closer to the terminals, which are typically used by limos, taxis and car services.
The Port Authority also said that without the permit, Connecticut Limo can not promote it's inside the terminals where incoming passengers can see their travel options.
In a statement Connecticut Limo said it has sought intervention from the district court in connection with the dispute, and that legal action is on-going. The company also says, it had brought it's issues to many state legislators and understands it has their support.
The Port Authority said a Connecticut judge denied the company a restraining order in the case late yesterday.
Connecticut Limo said it will continue it's operation and its service to it's customers.
News 8 first got wind of this story on Tuesday, when a Connecticut Limo driver told News 8 that he'd been told by Port Authority workers at JFK that his access to preferred locations could be effected if the situation was not resolved.
