NEW HAVEN, Conn. (AP) — Connecticut environmental officials are holding a summit on the best strategies for handling solid waste.

The event scheduled for Tuesday at Yale University aims to explore how the state, towns and cities can reduce waste and recover more through reuse and recycling.

It's the second Materials Management Summit in a series hosted by the state Department of Energy and Environmental Protection.

The agenda includes a discussion on the role of trash haulers, moderated by a U.S. Environmental Protection Agency official.

It will also examine pricing systems and how cities and towns are using resource management contracts to help reduce waste.
