NAUGATUCK, Conn. (WTNH) -- The water is long gone, but the damage still exists for people in Naugatuck.
They're cleaning up after Wednesday's flash floods.
That's why Congresswoman Rosa DeLauro toured the area Friday and met with Mayor Bob Mezzo.
She says knowing five inches of rain fell in one hour she's surprised the damage wasn't more widespread.
She says she's not exactly sure how the state can help Naugatuck financially because it wasn't a statewide emergency like Irene.
"So there's no guarantees the state can help?"
"There are no guarantees," DeLauro said.
During the storm, creeks turned into rivers, roads buckled under the strength of the water, and two apartment complexes were forced to evacuate.
