Estate of teen crash victim settles for $4 million

MILFORD, Conn. (AP) — The estate of a teenager killed in a crash with a Milford police cruiser has settled a lawsuit against the city for $4 million.
The Connecticut Post reports that a Probate Court judge approved the settlement to the estate of Ashlie M. Krakowski on Monday.
Krakowski and David Servin, both 19, were killed on June 13, 2009, when the car Servin was driving collided with the police car driven at more than 90 mph by former officer Jason Anderson.
The young woman's estate will receive $2.8 million after expenses, including $1.2 million in legal fees. The city, through its insurance carrier, will pay $3.5 million. Servin's parents will pay $500,000.
Anderson was charged with second-degree manslaughter and was convicted earlier this month of a lesser charge of misconduct with a motor vehicle and reckless driving.
