Southbury, Conn. (WTNH) - An odor of gas in Southbury forced evacuations in the area of 458 Heritage Road.
News 8's Jamie Muro says there were three fire trucks from the Southbury volunteer fire department on the scene as well as crews from Yankee Gas.
After an investigation, officials say there was no detection of a gas leak and the residents were allowed to return to their apartments.
Yankee Gas says a maintenance worker called in an odor of natural gas. Three apartments were evacuated as a precaution. However, once Yankee Gas was on scene there was a zero reading of natural gas.
Two large condominium buildings were then evacuated.
The fire department told News 8 the evacuations were precautionary.
These condo buildings are separate from The Heritage Village Senior Retirement Community, but they are close by each other.
Yankee Gas is handling the follow up investigation.
