Cheshire, Conn. (WTNH) - It's a small hike to get to one of Cheshire's hidden natural wonders -- Roaring Brook Falls .
Located on property acquired by the Cheshire Land Trust in 1978, the trail head starts at the end of Roaring Brook Road.
At first a nice and easy trek that follows the orange markers. But once you cross over the trickling brook the trail is more like a climb, going straight up to a final vantage point.
And it's worth the sweat. You'll find the single tallest natural waterfall in the State of Connecticut. Well, single drop that is from a height of eighty feet (not to be confused with the taller Kent Falls with multiple cascades in Northwestern Connecticut).
The hike to the top of the falls is just as steep with little to see in this summer foliage. At least the trail back is all down hill.
It's about fifteen minutes back to the parking lot from the base of the falls and we calculated just three-quarters, just under one mile.
Roaring Brook Park is a little bit of Cheshire waiting to be discovered for those willing to put in the effort.
