Fatal one-car crash on Route 79

Madison, Conn. (WTNH) - Police are investigating a one-car accident that left one person dead.

The accident happened on Route 79 in Madison just before 6 p.m.

Route 79 was shut down for approximately four hours.

The sole occupant of the vehicle was transported from the scene by EMS personnel and has been presumed dead.

The victim was identified as Clinton resident Mark Vertefeuille, 54.

No other vehicles appear to have been involved. The cause of the accident is under investigation.
