NORTH HAVEN, Conn. (WTNH) -- The North Haven Fire Department celebrated their 100-year anniversary.
To mark the milestone, the Fire Department put on a show to display all that they've learned over the years.
Cars were set up to simulate different crash scenarios, as some flipped and others t-boned.
Firefighters from different area Fire Departments got to test out different tools to get people out of vehicles in the case of an emergency.
It's all part of the annual firefighter convention, when firefighters across the state come together, practice new techniques and this year they're celebrating North Haven's 100th year of operation.
When it comes to extrications, the experts say it's all about muscle memory.
"It's always important to learn different techniques, just to brush up on your skills on how to do extrications," said Lt. Jeff Obier of North Haven Fire Department. "Some departments do a lot of extrications. Others don't."
News 8's own Stephanie SimoniĀ even learned how to use the Jaws of Life, all while still wearing heels. She says that the tool is a lot heavier than it looks.
Take a look at some of the Report It photos we received in November, 2012.
