Fire engulfs single family home

MIDDLEBURY, Conn. (WTNH) -- A Middlebury home was fully engulfed in flames on Wednesday.

Around 8:00 p.m. the fire and police department were dispatched to 381 Lakeshore Drive for a structure fire with the report of people inside the resident trying to put the fire out.

When police arrived, they found the single family home fully engulfed in glames. Police say the two occupants were found safely outside the residence.

The wind contributed to the spread of the fire and the area is rural, with no fire hyrdrants.

Police and Fire officials will most likely be on the scene throughout the night.

The cause is unknown but early indications found it may have started in the garage, basement area.
