NORTH HAVEN, Conn. (WTNH) -- Firefighters battled a blaze in a North Haven basement Monday night.
The fire occurred around 8:30 p.m., at a home located at 27 Bassett Rd.
When firefighters arrived on the scene, smoke was visible from the exterior of the home.
The homeowner told officials that everyone was out of the house.
Firefighters were able to contain the blaze to the basement, but officials said the entire home has significant smoke damage throughout.
The residents are staying with family until the home is determined to be safe.
No injuries were reported.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
