BRANFORD, Conn. (WTNH) - Although folks along the shoreline didn't get hit with snow, they are left with flooded roads.

In Branford and Milford, the streets look likes creeks.

People along the shoreline acknowledge that they live in an area prone to flooding, but that doesn't excuse the poorly functioning draining system.

The combination of rain and high tide means salt water is constantly covering roadways in the Indian Neck section of Branford.

"We have storm drainage problems that haven't been fixed, and it becomes a problem and issue to get back and forth to your house," said Louis Guerrera of Branford.

Some cars have gotten stuck under an underpass on Montowese Street.

On a one way street leading towards beach front homes some residents are complaining of feeling stuck, so they took their complaints to the Branford Town Hall. They are bringing attention to the flooding area by using News 8's Report It feature.

"It needs to be addressed sooner than later, and the towns replay is basically we'll try to find the money, and with the taxes we pay I think they find it, and I think it would be very easy to find the money," said Guerrera.

Folks told News 8 that it may take hours, maybe even a full day for all of the water to recede, so drivers could get home safely.
