Guilford, Conn. (WTNH) - Traffic is being rerouted after an early morning crash shut down a road in Guilford.
A car hit a telephone pole at the intersection of Durham and Hemlock Road. The pole came crashing down, and brought with it a power transformer.
Officers are calling it a hazardous material situation.
The area is closed while crews from the utility companies and state D.E.E.P. Hazmat are cleaning up the scene.
Police say the road is likely to remain closed until this afternoon.
The driver sustained minor injuries.
