NEW HAVEN, Conn. (WTNH)-- Early morning snow didn't stop runners from turning out to race for a good cause.
The race route was changed because of the weather, causing at least one runner to fall.
But nearly 800 folks took part in the 6th annual "Run for Refugees." Money raised helps fund programs for refugees from places like Cuba and Afghanistan, settling in Connecticut.
Some running with eye catching accessories.
"It's like a fun neighborhood event, everyone comes out to have a good time, and I think they encourage it. We did it last year," said Rohit Neimpalmy, of New Haven.
"I walk three miles everyday, so an extra two, we will see," said Donna Conyers, also of New Haven.
The event benefits the New Haven based IRIS organization.
