WEST HAVEN, Conn. (WTNH) -- Damage from Tropical Storm Irene may have caused a fire in West Haven Tuesday.
A house fire on Ocean Ave. looks to be the result of a damaged electrical outlet caused by the powerful storm that hit Connecticut back in August.
The owner was able to make it out safely but the deputy fire chief says it was a close call.
"One of the scary things about it is that the owner was home and had not been alerted as to the fire," Dep. Chief Patrick Pickering said. "One of the neighbors saw the fire and called 911."
Officials say firefighters responded to the scene quickly and were able to save the million dollar property.
