Oxford, Conn. (WTNH) -- A possible lightning strike early Wednesday afternoon set an Oxford homeowner's garage on fire.

It happened just before 12:30 p.m. at 13 Cherokee Drive.

When firefighters arrived there was heavy fire coming from the rear of the 2.5 story garage.

The homeowner's son was inside the house at the time. Fortunately no one was hurt and the fire didn't spread to the house.

The son says his dad's extra car in the garage was damaged.

"There's cars and gasoline cans in the back of the garage. Thankfully, none of them ignited," said Scott Pelletier from the Oxford Fire Department.

Firefighters are still investigating the exact cause of the fire.
