EAST HAVEN, Conn. (WTNH) -- A bulldozer serves as a reminder that Cosey Beach in East Haven is still in recovery mode nearly one year after Tropical Storm Irene.
The combination of the storm and high tide created a surge of water strong enough to take beachfront homes off their foundations and out to sea.
Thirty-four homes were condemned and then demolished. Not everyone has been able to return and rebuild because of the expense of building to new FEMA code standards.
Gov. Dannel Malloy, who was at Cosey Beach just hours after the storm hit, is expected to return Monday to walk around and view progress.
Take a look at some of the Report It photos we received in November, 2012.
