On Jan 13, 2012, Guzman pleaded guilty to two counts of conspiring to distribute and to possess with intent to distribute five kilograms or more of cocaine.
Guzman was also charged in the District of Puerto Rico for participating in a separate drug distribution conspiracy. The second count to which he pleaded guilty satisfied his federal criminal liability as to this offense, and the charges against him in Puerto Rico will be dismissed.
