Man rescued after 125' fall at state forest

NAUGATUCK, Conn. (WTNH) -- A man was taken to the hospital after falling more than 100 feet down an embankment at the Naugatuck State Forest.

The incident happened just after 7 p.m. Thursday.

Officials said the man fell down a ravine at the State Forest, falling approximately 125' down a rough embankment before landing on a rocky area.

A stokes basket was used to get the man up the embankment.

Fire officials said the man was conscious, alert and answering questions.

He was taken to Waterbury Hospital via ambulance.

The extent of his injuries are unknown.

The man's identity has not yet been released.
