Madison, Conn. (WTNH) - A man was hit and killed after he walked onto the highway, in Madison, around 5 p.m. Saturday.
The incident happened on I-95 N between exits 61-62 near a McDonald's rest stop.
State Police say they don't know why he walked out onto the freeway but witnesses say he appeared to be "under the influence."
"We saw the same person running about by McDonald's -- and you see that the person was drunk or a drug addict. So, this was the same person that went across the road running. And, the car couldn't stop," said Samuel Djingbe, a witness.
The Northbound side of the highway was shut down for a couple of hours and re-opened at 7 p.m.
Police have not released the age or identity of the man.
