Man shot in the groin, hospitalized

NEW HAVEN, Conn. (WTNH) -- A New Haven man was shot in the penis and now officers are looking into what happened.

31-year-old Maurice Farrington was transported to Yale-New Haven Hospital after he was shot inside his home on Rosewood Avenue.

His mother told officers she woke up after she heard a gunshot and dogs barking outside her house just after midnight Thursday morning. She told officers she rushed to the window, but didn't see anyone or anything suspicious.

But then her son started to scream. She rushed into his room, saw his was bleeding and called 911.

Farrington underwent emergency surgery. He is currently in stable, yet serious condition.

Now police are trying to figure out what happened.
