MERIDEN, Conn. (AP) — The State Department of Children and Families is sponsoring a family fair in Meriden designed to celebrate its foster care program.

The Family Fun day is being held Saturday at Hubbard Park.

The free event, which will cater to foster families, includes live performances, food, shopping and children's activities such as a moon bounce and face painting.

But there also will be representatives from service providers and information for the general public on how to become a foster or adoptive parent.

The event is part of National Foster Care Month. The DCF says some of the proceeds will be used to expose foster kids to artistic, recreational, and social opportunities, such as plays and summer camps.
