MERIDEN, Conn. (WTNH) -- A 42-year-old Meriden man was killed after he was hit by a car on North Broad Street.
Police say the man was trying to cross North Broad Street/the Berlin Turnpike when he was struck by a grey Volvo around 8:20 p.m. Tuesday night.
The pedestrian suffered massive injuries to his head and neck. He was pronounced dead at Hartford Hospital four hours after the crash.
Police say his identity will be released after his family has been notified.
The driver, Kwame Osei-Tutu, was transported to St. Francis Hospital with facial, chest and hand injuries. He is currently listed in stable condition.
Police say the speed limit in that area is 50 miles per hour.
The crash is under investigation.
