Burned dog found in Milford needs help

Milford, Conn. (WTNH) - Milford Animal Control says they need help to pay for a dog's medical costs that was found badly burned.

The two year old Staffordshire Terrier dubbed Ginger was found roaming on Colonial Avenue on July 10. Ginger recently had a litter of puppies, but police don't know where they are.

"We're concerned about the puppies and the whereabouts of the puppies and the mother is so laden with milk," said Rich George, Director, Milford Animal Control.

The dog was suffering from third degree burns on its neck and shoulder.

"We just started the investigation today so we're going to investigate and look into that and find out if it was deliberate or accidental. First we have to locate the dog's owner," said Ofc. Jeff Neilsen, Milford Police Department.

Note: Ginger is not being kept at the Milford Animal Shelter. She is in the care of an area veterinarian.
