Milford, Conn. (WTNH) - Power problems caused big disruptions and an evacuation Tuesday at Milford Superior Court. A smoky air conditioning unit forced firefighters to evacuate the building.
The incident was reported around 10am. About 100 people were inside at the time, but no one was injured.
Additionally, a tree came down in the area taking down some wires, causing a power outage at the court, city hall and other buildings nearby.
United Illuminating reported about 43 outages in Milford.
The fire department says it looked like the power outage may have caused the malfunction with the air conditioning unit.
Power was restored around 2pm, but court did not resume.
All of the criminal cases that were to be heard Tuesday will be heard on October 15th. The civil cases are being moved to Derby Court.
