Missing 10-year-old New Haven boy found safe

NEW HAVEN, Conn. (WTNH) -- Two barbers spotted the missing 10-year-old walking by the shop, stopped him and called police.

The boy disappeared around 3 yesterday, police issued that silver alert, and thanks to some concerned citizens he's back with his dad.

"My coworker said that's the that's the child that's missing and I was in shock," said Michael Cuevas one of the barbers.

Michael Cuevas and Luis Rivera spotted him just before 11 this morning outside Xplicit Barber Shop.

"He was kind of scared. He just run away and we follow him and we help him," said Cuevas.

He says they brought him back to the store, called police, and gave him some juice and candy. He says Jacob stayed quiet.

"It's been a harrowing night for father and family," said David Hartman of the New Haven Police.

Police say they searched for hours, the child never ran away before, until now and they didn't know why he dissappeared this time.

"The child is unharmed, seems to be in good spirits although I don't think very happy that he's sitting at the police headquarters right now," said Hartman.

Back at the barber shop, they're relieved the child is okay. Cuevas has a 9-year-old daughter at home and sympathizes with Wilson's father.

"That's why I was worried because I don't like any parent missing a child and that's the way I saw it," said Cuevas.

That's the hope police had as they didn't have any leads last night and relied on citizens like Cuevas to help.

"I think we lucky you know? We don't like any kid missing anywhere with all the stuff that happened you know so far. We happy, so happy to find him," said Cuevas.

                                                                                                                                                                                             

NEW HAVEN, Conn. (WTNH) -- State Police have issued a silver alert for a 10-year-old boy from New Haven.

Jacob Wilson was last seen on Wednesday in the area of Troup Middle School at 259 Edgewood Ave in New Haven.

Wilson was last seen wearing a grey knit hat, a black jacket, a dark green t-shirt, khaki pants and black and yellow Nike sneakers.

He may also be carrying a red backpack.

Wilson is a black 5' tall male, weighs 115 lbs., has brown hair and brown eyes.
