WATERBURY, Conn. (WTNH) -- Police are investigating a fatal accident that occurred in Waterbury Thursday, involving a motorcycle and an SUV.

The crash happened around 1 p.m., at the intersection of Meriden Road and Frost Road.

Police said 36-year-old Michael Chapman, of Waterbury, was driving his 2003 Yamaha motorcycle northbound on Meriden Road when he collided with a 1994 Jeep Grand Cherokee that was turning left from the southbound lane of Meriden Lane into the Mobil gas station, located at 570 Meriden Road.

The Jeep was driven by 56-year-old Romeo Guerrera, also of Waterbury.

Chapman was taken to St. Mary's Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Guerrera was not injured.

According to police, the crash remains under investigation and no charges have been filed, but they are investigating if the speed of the motorcycle was a factor in the crash.
