NEW HAVEN, Conn. (WTNH) -- A New Haven building that was the scene of a murder in 2004 caught on fire Friday morning.
The fire was reported early in the morning at a three story brick building on Grand Ave., across the street from Adriana's Restaurant. Smoke from the fire drifted across nearby I-91.
The building, which is empty, has been known to be a place where homeless people stay.
In July 2004, 37-year-old Louise Soules and 38-year-old Michael Mobley were killed while sleeping in the building. An arrest was made in that case in December, 2011.
No injuries were reported in this fire. Grand Ave. was closed in the immediate area of the fire, but the highway was open. The cause will be investigated.
