New Haven (WTNH) - Who better to get the word out about underage drinking on college campuses than college students?

That's the idea behind an annual contest. College kids across the state have about three months to come up with a creative public service announcement about the dangers of underage drinking.

Last year's winners were a group of kids from the University of New Haven. They focused on house parties and how can parents can be charged if they supply booze to underage drinkers.

"The thinking and brainstorming took time, but we filmed it all in a day so it didn't take long to film, but putting it all together took a lot of time," said Chelsea Fowler, last year's winner.

Chelsea will split the $2,500 prize money with two other students. The winning PSA airs on television.
