NEW HAVEN, Conn. (WTNH) — The FBI has wrapped up its investigation into allegations of police misconduct during an arrest in New Haven last month, leaving it up to the locals.
Several people used their phones to record officers while they were taking a man into custody outside a bar in the Temple Street courtyard June 2.
Jennifer Gondola was arrested for refusing to hand over her phone. New Haven Sgt. Chris Rubino said he took the phone as evidence.
The FBI launched a preliminary investigation into whether any civil rights were violated. On Tuesday the agency informed New Haven police the case should be handled by the police department's Internal Affairs Division.
