New Haven, Conn. (WTNH) - People in New Haven held a peace rally Saturday to call for an end to ongoing city violence.
It was held in a park on Goffe Street in memory of the city's latest victim of gunfire.
17-year-old Travis Washington was shot to death earlier this week. His family joined other families who lost a loved one to violence.
They are saying enough is enough to killing of young men in their community.
"Every Monday we're waking up to see who is next and it's not right," A woman who identified herself as Jackie said. "We should stop the violence, put the guns down and pick up a book or something, do something positive instead of taking someone's life."
Washington's family is encouraging residents to sign a 'peace contract' to keep peace in the streets.
Police say there have been 16 homicides in New Haven so far this year.
The person who pulled the trigger and killed Travis Washington is still at large. If you know anything his family asks that you take a stand and call police.
