NEW HAVEN, Conn. (WTNH) -- One of the nation's largest standing St. Patrick's Day traditions continued Sunday with New Haven's Parade.
Thousands of folks filled the parade route to watch all the action. Police say this is the city's largest annual spectator event and there certainly were big crowds.
"It was really nice," Maria said. "Everyone is really nice, cheerful; just having a good time with the kids."
"It's just a big tradition," Joann said. "Years back my family came from Ireland. It was so long ago, I don't know if we can even count it, but we just love coming we love New Haven. We love the people, and everybody.
About 150 police officers were on hand to help keep everyone safe.
Next Sunday officially marks St. Patrick's Day.
