NEW HAVEN, Conn. (WTNH) -- More kids in New Haven now have the chance to keep busy this summer with positive enrichment.
The city's LEAP program is expanding its summer initiative.
LEAP stands for Leadership Education Athletics and Partnership.
The school based program is designed to help at risk kids in some of the city's toughest neighborhoods reach their potential.
"The last two summers we have been in three neighborhoods and have worked out of three schools. Church St. South, Roberto Clementi...and this year we are happy to return to one of the neighborhoods that we had to leave a couple of years ago. ... housed at troop school," one organizer said.
Organizers say this summer will mark LEAP's 21st summer in the community.A new LEAP site is opening up this summer in the Elm City's Dwight Neighborhood.
