Guilford (WTNH) - One man is dead after a 19-foot boat crashed in Long Island Sound Thursday night, Department of Environmental Protection police said. Another man is in critical condition.

The Boston Whaler slammed into a seawall around 9:35 p.m. off of Old Quarry Road, killing Jonathan R. Cook, 24, of Guilford.

Devon J. Hardy, 21, was also on the vessel and was critically injured in the accident. Arthur K. Hall, 24, and Elizabeth Protzman, 21, also suffered from injuries. All victims are from Guilford.

Two of the crew were pulled from the water by dive teams. Another person was on the seawall when emergency crews got there.

The DEP's Boating Accident Reconstruction Unit is investigating what happened, and whether alcohol was a factor in the crash.

Branford and Guilford rescue crews, along with the United States Coast Guard took part in the search and rescue.
