Fire crews respond to Hamden blaze

Hamden (WTNH) - Fire crews were on scene of a Hamden house fire that broke out Tuesday afternoon.

At approximately 3 p.m., Hamden officials received a 911 call regarding a fire at 1171 Paradise Avenue. There was a heavy fire from the rear and basement area on the home.

 

18 firefighters on scene knocked down the fire.

Fire spread to the walls and closets resulting in the floor collapse of the first floor.

"The fire is believed to have originated in the furnace," Hamden fire officials said.

The fire left West Shepard and Paradise Avenues closed until 4 p.m. or so until they were done at the scene.
