Milford (WTNH) - After watching their team win a 27th World Series title, some New York Yankees fans got up early in the morning to grab their World Championship garb.
The Yankees beat the Philadelphia Phillies in Game 6 Wednesday night to take the title.
Modells Sporting goods in Milford opened their doors at 5:00 a.m. after receiving a shipment of championship hats, t-shirts and sweatshirts.
Hideki Matsui's record-tying six RBIs helped the Yankees to the 7-3 win over the Phillies.
Yankees fans had waited nine years since the team's previous World Series title, a Subway Series against their crosstown rivals, the Mets, in 2000.
There will be a parade for the Yankees Friday morning. it will begin on Broadway at Battery Place at 11 a.m. and continue northbound up the Canyon of Heroes to City Hall Plaza. That's where Mayor Michael Bloomberg will present the team with the keys to the city.
