New Haven (WTNH) - A Yale graduate student who has been missing since Tuesday recently wrote an article for an on-line university magazine. The topic: crime and safety.

Though police don't know if Annie Le's disappearance is a criminal investigation at this point, the pharmacology student's article is strangely ironic.

Le writes, "Despite safety measures, such as door-to-door escort and shuttle services, the Yale community is still plagued with thefts, some involving frightening confrontations."

The February 2009 article also includes an interview with Yale Police Chief James Perrotti, who is now investigating her disappearance. He gave her six tips about crime prevention, including "Avoid portraying yourself as a potential victim" and "Keep a minimum amount on your person", such as limiting cash and credit cards that you carry on a daily basis.

When she disappeared, Le's phone, cash and credit cards were left behind.

In light of the recent events surrounding her own disappearance, Le's last sentence is chilling.

"New Haven is a city, and all cities have their perils, but with a little street smarts, one can avoid becoming yet another statistic," she writes.

Le is not listed as a contributor on the current issue of B Magazine.
