North Haven (WTNH) - A pet adopt-a-thon is underway in North Haven. Over 400 puppies, dogs, kittens and cats are waiting to come home with you.
The Plotke family came all the way to North Haven from Long Island looking for the newest addition to their family.
"My children have been wanting a dog for a long time and we figured we'd make it into an adventure and come down and see what happens," said Veronica Plotke.
And they're not alone. Hundreds traveled from Illinois, Vermont, New Hampshire and New Jersey to adopt a pet from the SPCA.
This is the largest pet adoption event ever held in the state of Connecticut," said Fred Acker, SPCA-CT.
Adoption fees for a dog or puppy will run $325, the cost for a cat or kitten runs up to $200. But that includes all their shots, spay/neuter and a microchip that will help you find your new friend if they run off.
The adoption event takes place at the Petsmart on Universal Drive in North Haven, Friday-Sunday from 10am-6pm.
