North Haven (WTNH) - There's great news for animals in need of a home after a massive pet adoption effort wrapped up in North Haven Sunday.

More than 400 dogs and cats were up for adoption, over the past three days, at the Pet-Smart store on Universal Drive.

And of those animals more than 300 were adopted.

This is the largest pet adoption event ever held in the state of Connecticut," said Fred Acker, SPCA-CT.

Hundreds traveled from Illinois, Vermont, New Hampshire and New Jersey to adopt a pet from the SPCA.
